AI Disclosure and Ethics

At The Human Datum, we explore the friction between human culture and exponential technology. To fulfill this mission, we utilize the very tools we analyze. This charter outlines our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the preservation of human discernment.

AI Disclosure and Ethics Charter

1. The Human Mandate

All strategic conclusions and reflections are based on human judgment. We do not publish raw AI output.

  • AI is not an author at The Human Datum. Jens Koester alone is responsible for all conclusions and projections.
  • We check all AI-generated data, citations, and historical facts. This prevents "hallucinations" in our intelligence.

2. Augmented Research & Synthesis

Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI serve as research assistants in our process. We apply them in the following ways:

  • Data Synthesis: Processing vast amounts of technological signals to identify patterns.
  • Structural Editing: Refining the clarity and flow of complex intellectual arguments.
  • We ensure clear translations of philosophy for our global audience.

3. Synthetic Visuals & Media

Generative AI conceptualizes many of the visual elements presented on this site.

  • We employ AI to develop visual concepts that standard photography cannot capture.
  • We label all AI-generated images with metadata or captions indicating 'AI-Conceptualized.'

4. Data Sovereignty & Privacy

We do not share private subscriber data with public AI models. Research is conducted within secure environments to protect our community's privacy.

5. Intellectual Lineage & Source Integrity

An insight's value depends on the quality of its origin. To keep high integrity, we follow these rules:

  • When possible, we link to original research, official filings, or primary data. We avoid secondhand news to reduce third-party bias.
  • All external links add context. We never use "clickbait" or redirects that affect the reading experience.
  • We credit the sources of our ideas. If a concept comes from another thinker, we cite and link to them. This helps The Human Datum stay part of a larger, open discussion.

This charter is reviewed quarterly to adapt to the evolving capabilities of generative technology. Last updated: January 2026.
